Guyanese passport holders can now travel to Saudi Arabia with an electronic visa or visa on arrival—without first needing a valid US, UK or Schengen visa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the change on Saturday, saying Guyana is now the only South American country whose passport holders have access to the facility without that third-country visa requirement.
The move is expected to make travel easier for Guyanese heading to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, tourism, family visits and other purposes.
Travellers can apply directly for an electronic visa or obtain a visa on arrival using their Guyanese passport and paying the required fee, without going through an agent or visiting a Saudi embassy.
The Ministry says the development follows strengthened relations between Guyana and Saudi Arabia, including cooperation in trade, investment and tourism.
