The Ministry of Housing and the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) have begun providing services from their new headquarters, as several departments have already been relocated to the facility.
The Ministry, in a statement issued Monday, said the move is being done in phases, with additional departments and key service areas expected to begin operating from the new headquarters in the coming days.
Among the departments already operating from the facility are the Community Development Department and the Planning Department.
The Community Development Department previously operated from the Old Dairy Bar Building and handles matters relating to regularisation, relocation and community development.
The Planning Department, which is responsible for processing applications for Planning Permission, has also been transferred to the new headquarters.
Additionally, the Ministry said all services that were previously provided at its Camp Street Annex have now been fully relocated to the new facility.
According to the Ministry, the consolidation of its operations is intended to improve the delivery of services to the public.
Housing Minister Collin Croal and Minister within the Ministry Vanessa Benn visited the new headquarters on Monday to assess the transition and oversee operations.
They were accompanied by Permanent Secretary Bishram Kuppen and CH&PA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Martin Pertab.
“The officials engaged staff and reviewed the operational arrangements in place to ensure that services continue with minimal disruption as the relocation progresses,” the Ministry said.
With the relocation still underway, the Ministry has asked members of the public to exercise patience as it works to maintain services during the transition.
Further updates are expected as the remaining departments begin operating from the new headquarters.
