To ensure housing projects stay on schedule and support the government’s 2025–2030 homeownership goals, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), Dr. Martin Pertab, has begun site visits to several developments along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, including Hauraruni and Yarrowkabra.

During the visits, Dr. Pertab met with contractors to assess ongoing works and address challenges early. He noted that smaller contractors often face capacity issues, while larger ones must maintain performance standards. The CEO also plans to engage directly with delinquent contractors, warning that delays in infrastructure create setbacks for utility installations and, ultimately, for beneficiaries waiting to occupy their homes.

The Hauraruni Project will feature over 400 Young Professional homes, with land preparation nearly complete. At Yarrowkabra, 200 prefabricated homes are under construction in the first phase of a $6 billion initiative expected to deliver 500 homes. The project—an initiative of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali—integrates housing with agriculture and renewable energy to promote economic empowerment, especially for single mothers and women-led households.

Through these visits, Dr. Pertab reaffirmed CH&PA’s commitment to ensuring that more Guyanese families can soon achieve homeownership.
