A 34-year-old construction worker has been remanded to prison after being accused of threatening his infant child with a knife during a domestic dispute.

Ricardo Caleb of Lot 68 William Street, Kitty, Georgetown, appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

He was charged with threatening behaviour stemming from a May 6, 2025, incident involving his common-law partner, Alicia Valles.

The prosecution alleged that Caleb held a knife to his child’s neck during an argument, frightening the mother and prompting her to report the matter to the police.

The police prosecutor opposed bail, citing the serious nature of the offence. Caleb, however, denied the accusation.

“I never put no knife to the baby’s neck,” he told the court, claiming the situation was misinterpreted.

He explained that after an argument, he was alone with the baby and video-calling his mother when neighbours knocked on his door, prompting him to pick up both the baby and a knife out of fear.

He said a neighbour “exaggerated the situation” and called him a “madman.” Magistrate McGusty denied bail and remanded Caleb to prison until May 23, 2025.
