Lochaber Community Ground Moves Ahead With Major Upgrade Works
The Lochaber Community Ground in West Canje, East Berbice is seeing significant transformation as part of the PPP/C government’s ongoing Grounds Enhancement Programme, which is reshaping recreational spaces across the country.
At the centre of the upgrade is a newly constructed pavilion, complemented by modern washroom facilities and freshly installed side screens. Floodlights have also been mounted and are expected to be connected to the power grid soon, expanding the ground’s potential for evening activities.
The project is broadening the facility’s use as well. A designated football area has already been completed, a walking track is currently being built around the perimeter, and work is underway on a new cricket pitch that will further enhance sporting opportunities for the community.
The upgrades position the ground as a more vibrant, accessible and multi-purpose hub for residents.
