The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is probing the death of a 58-year-old man who died following a jet ski collision on Sunday at Splashmin Fun Park and Village, along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

The deceased has been identified as Joseph Sahadeo of Grant Ville Park, BV, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

According to a statement from the Police Corporate Communications Unit, Sahadeo had gone to the popular recreational site around 13:00 hrs with his wife, daughter Padmini Sahadeo, and other relatives. The family had brought along two jet skis, which were launched into the water upon arrival.

Police said Sahadeo was riding one of the jet skis while his daughter and her friend were on the other. During the activity, Sahadeo reportedly collided with the jet ski carrying his daughter. He sustained a severe blow to the head and fell into the water.

He was quickly pulled from the water by relatives and friends and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was pronounced dead. Visible injuries were observed on his head and face, police said.

His body was later taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
