Man Fatally Chopped During Family Dispute at Supply, Mahaica
A late-night family dispute in Supply, Mahaica, ended in tragedy on Monday when 36-year-old Ray Sheoraj, known as “Redman,” was chopped to death during an argument with a male relative.
Police reported that the incident happened around 23:00 hrs at Sheoraj’s home, where several relatives were gathered. An argument broke out between Sheoraj and a 62-year-old relative who lives at the same address. During the confrontation, the older man allegedly dealt him a chop to the left leg with a sharp weapon before fleeing the scene.
Sheoraj tried to tend to the wound but later collapsed in the upper flat of the house. He was rushed to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Investigators recovered a cutlass and a chopper believed to have been used in the attack. Police also confirmed that a 29-year-old housewife from the area suffered injuries during the ordeal and is receiving treatment.
Two other relatives, a 45-year-old man from Belmont, Mahaica, and a 38-year-old from Supply, have been taken into custody as the probe continues.
The body is at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination. Police say investigations remain ongoing.
