Olrick Fingal, one of the men arrested last Friday in connection with a drug bust near the Royal Hotel on Mandela Avenue, has been remanded to prison following his court appearance on Monday.
Fingal was hauled before Magistrate Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he was charged with possession of 3.810 kilograms of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The defendant pleaded not guilty and was denied bail and remanded to prison until June 16, 2025.
It was reported that ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) acted on intelligence and intercepted two men near the Royal Hotel and conducted a search.

Officers discovered eight parcels containing leaves, seeds, and stems of suspected marijuana, along with a CZ pistol and 19 live rounds of ammunition.
Both men were arrested on the spot and taken to CANU’s headquarters along with the seized items. Subsequent tests confirmed that the plant material was marijuana, with a total weight of 3.810 kilograms. While Fingal has since been charged, investigations are continuing, and the fate of the second suspect has not yet been disclosed.
