The trial into alleged attempts to manipulate the March 2020 General and Regional Elections will resume in February 2026, with hearings scheduled for February 16–20 and February 24–27. The dates were confirmed during the most recent session at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The matter is proceeding under case-management guidelines, a system meant to keep the trial organised and ensure that all sides are prepared before each phase begins. The latest hearing took place before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, though much of that session was not recorded as part of the formal proceedings.

Fresh evidence was introduced through CID Inspector Junior Blair, who described how investigators extracted video footage from the mobile phones of PPP party agent Bibi Aneishaw Mohamed and political activist Sasenarine Singh during the 2020 election period.

Nine individuals remain before the court on allegations of conspiring to alter the Region Four tabulation in favour of APNU+AFC, in what prosecutors say was an effort to prevent the PPP from winning the election. The group includes former minister Volda Lawrence, former Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield, former Region Four Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo, and former Deputy CEO Roxanne Myers.

The case stems from the prolonged controversy that followed the March 2020 polls, which left the country without declared results for five months before Irfaan Ali was finally sworn in as President on August 2, 2020.
