Ireland pulled off a commanding 124-run win over the West Indies in the first One Day International (ODI) of the West Indies tour of Ireland on Wednesday in Dublin, led by outstanding all-round performances from Barry McCarthy and Paul Stirling.

Winning the toss, the West Indies opted to field first. Ireland’s opening pair, Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie, got off to a blazing start, striking the ball to all parts of the ground.

Balbirnie led the charge with a brilliant knock of 112 runs, while Stirling added a solid 54. Harry Tector also chipped in with a composed 56, helping to set an imposing total of 304 runs.

Matthew Forde spearheaded the West Indies bowling attack, claiming three wickets. He was supported by Shamar Joseph, who took two wickets, and Roston Chase, who picked up one.

In response, the West Indies struggled to form meaningful partnerships, losing wickets at regular intervals. Roston Chase provided some resistance in the lower order with a fighting 50, while Forde contributed 35 and Justin Greaves added 33 runs.

Barry McCarthy was the standout with the ball for Ireland, using the conditions well to claim four wickets. He received excellent support from George Dockrell, who made a major impact with a hat-trick.
