At the official launch of GuyExpo 2025, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce underscored a central truth: without the commitment and investment of the private sector, the country’s largest trade and investment showcase would simply not be possible.
Speaking to an audience of corporate leaders, diplomats, and business owners, the Minister highlighted that while government facilitates the event, its strength rests squarely on the shoulders of private enterprise. “Without our exhibitors, our manufacturers, service providers, agro-processors, and sponsors, there would be no Expo,” she declared, making a direct call for businesses of all sizes to seize the opportunity to engage.
GuyExpo, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has long served as the premier platform for Guyanese businesses to showcase products, forge networks, and attract investment. The Minister pointed to the unmatched exposure the event offers—extending beyond local consumers to regional and international investors.
She acknowledged major sponsors who have already pledged support, including Banks DIH, Enet, BYD, Jumbo Jet Group, DDL, and Sunshine Snacks, while extending an open invitation to others in the private sector to come on board.
While government’s role lies in creating the enabling environment through policies and infrastructure, the Minister was candid that Guyana’s economic transformation can only be sustained if driven by entrepreneurship and innovation. GuyExpo, she stressed, provides the stage for that transformation.
“This is a clarion call to all businesses—large and small—to participate in this national showcase,” she urged, noting that this year’s theme, “Transformation through Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” is a reflection of the country’s current development trajectory.
The Minister also credited long-standing partners such as the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association, and the Private Sector Commission, noting their “consistent support and input have been critical to the growth and success of GuyExpo.”
With enhancements to layout, infrastructure, and programming, GuyExpo 2025 promises to be one of the largest in recent memory. But the Minister reminded the audience that the Expo’s enduring legacy depends not on government, but on the private sector’s willingness to step forward, invest, and showcase Guyana’s potential.
