A 20-year-old motorcyclist died on Friday after he lost control of the motorcycle while performing a stunt known as a “willy” along the Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The deceased has been identified as Omari Nicolas, a resident of Lot 272 Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that the fatal incident occurred at about 15:15h on Friday. Nicolas was reportedly proceeding east along the northern carriageway of the southern driving lane at a high speed when he attempted the stunt.
He lost control of the motorcycle and fell onto the roadway, suffering severe injuries.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were called to the scene, but Nicolas was pronounced dead on the scene. His body was later transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
