Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), Aubrey Norton, says his party remains solely focused on being ready for the upcoming General and Regional Elections slated for September 1, 2025.
Responding to the announcement, Norton noted that the PNCR had always anticipated that the government would call elections on its own terms.
As a result, he emphasised that the party has maintained a constant state of preparedness.
“We have always been prepared for elections,” Norton told reporters. “We anticipated that they were going to call an election at a time that suits them. So, we have always been—and will continue to be—in preparation.”
Norton made it clear that there would be no scrambling or last-minute adjustments. Instead, he said, the party’s internal systems and strategies have long been geared toward ensuring readiness well before the official announcement was made.
Meanwhile, the exact date for the party’s campaign launch is still under consideration. However, Norton confirmed that planning is ongoing and that the PNCR remains united around the goal of securing victory on September 1.
When asked about potential partnerships, including renewed talks with the Alliance For Change (AFC), Norton reiterated that the PNCR has not ruled anything out.
“You know, I’ve said before that we haven’t closed the door on any partnerships,” he stated.
Talks between the PNCR and the AFC earlier this year failed to meet their April deadline, mainly due to disagreements over leadership. However, Norton noted that both sides have indicated that dialogue remains open.
