Police in Central Mahdia seized a quantity of marijuana during a routine patrol in the Mahdia Arcade area on Wednesday.
According to police, the discovery was made between 11:10 hours and 13:15 hours when two ranks on foot patrol stopped and searched several individuals for illegal firearms, ammunition, narcotics, and wanted persons. No illegal items were found on those searched.
However, officers extended their search to the surrounding area of the Mahdia Arcade, where they uncovered three bulky plastic bags hidden in an abandoned yard.
Two of the bags contained a total of six transparent plastic parcels and several small ziplock bags, each holding quantities of marijuana. The third bag also contained a quantity of suspected cannabis.
Additionally, officers discovered another bag containing more marijuana and a package labelled ‘gummy cannabis flower,’ both concealed inside an old refrigerator and a black garbage bag on the property.
All the items were photographed at the scene and subsequently transported to the Mahdia Police Station. The marijuana was weighed and amounted to 800 grams.
