Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at around 00:20 hrs on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, along the Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

The incident involved a white motor car, PAC 9262, driven by a 26-year-old Police Lance Corporal attached to the Ogle Police Outpost, and a male pedestrian known only as “Soath.” His full name, age, and address are yet to be confirmed.

According to police reports, the vehicle was heading west along the northern drive lane of the southern carriageway when the pedestrian reportedly ran across the road into its path. The left front of the car struck the man, who fell onto the roadway and sustained severe injuries.

He was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed by ambulance to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he later succumbed to his injuries. His body is at the GPHC mortuary, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.

A breathalyzer test administered to the driver showed no trace of alcohol. He has since been placed under close arrest as investigations continue.
