Police in Regional Division 4 ‘C’ have launched an investigation into the alleged murder of 34-year-old carpenter Homton Chichester, also known as “Orlando,” of Bare Root, Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara.
The incident occurred on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that Chichester’s body was discovered lying motionless along the Bare Root Access Road, bearing what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder.
Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned to the scene, and the man was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Police also recovered a motorcycle at the location, which has since been secured as part of the ongoing investigation.
The deceased’s body was transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigators have canvassed the surrounding area for CCTV cameras and have retrieved footage that is currently being analysed. Several individuals have been contacted and questioned as the probe continues.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
