The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has recovered a .45 pistol, 24 rounds of ammunition, and over two kilograms of cocaine and cannabis hidden in bushes at Crown Dam, Parika, during an operation on Wednesday.
Led by a female deputy superintendent, the team discovered two bulky plastic bags concealed in a thick clump of bushes along the dam. One bag contained multiple parcels wrapped in transparent plastic with leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The second bag held a small white bucket filled with several transparent plastic bags containing a whitish, cake-like substance suspected to be cocaine. The firearm—a .45 pistol—along with one magazine loaded with 24 matching rounds of ammunition, was also found inside the bucket.
The cannabis weighed 698 grams, while the cocaine amounted to 1,386 grams, bringing the total weight of the narcotics to 2,084 grams.
