The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has not provided information regarding the death of 22-year-old Stacy Walton, a businesswoman from Alexander Street, New Amsterdam.
Sheriff News Network understands that Walton was driving a motor vehicle along Number 19 Public Road sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning when she lost control of her motor vehicle and ended up in a nearby canal. It is unclear who removed the woman’s body and car from the canal.
Residents in the area have expressed confusion, stating they are unaware of any accident happening along the East Coast Berbice Public Road.
In an attempt to gather more information about the incident, Region Six Regional Commander Shivpersaud Bacchus promised to release details but did not follow through, even after being reminded on Friday afternoon.
There are speculations that Walton may have been killed and then placed in the canal to make it appear as though it was an accident.
The media also sought information about the alleged accident from the Head of the Police Communications Unit, Mark Ramotar, but details remain unavailable.
