On Thursday, August 6, 2026, three prison officers (Nikeisha Alleyne, Tremble Williams, and Lindon Thomas) graduated from the Professional Nursing Hybrid Training Programme, held at the National Cultural Centre.
It is the first cohort of the Ministry of Health’s Professional Nursing Hybrid Training Programme, marking a significant milestone in advancing nursing education and healthcare delivery in Guyana.
The three-year program was designed to provide aspiring nurses with a flexible, competency-based learning experience through a blended approach that combines online theoretical instruction with face-to-face practical and clinical training.
The program equips graduates with the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competencies needed to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across the country’s health system.
According to Director of Prisons Nicklon Elliot, the new skills of the prison officers will improve the healthcare services provided to the prison population.
