Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo has expressed hope that the eight per cent salary increase for public servants for 2025 will be paid before the end of the current term rather than after.
Responding to questions from the media at his press conference on Thursday, Jagdeo said, “It got to be before,” adding, “It doesn’t make sense to pay the public servants after.”
Last year, President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced a suite of incentives to reward public servants, including an eight per cent salary increase for 2025. However, public workers expressed concerns after six months had elapsed without the pay hike.
