The Government of Guyana will begin reimbursing parents or guardians of students who sat the Caribbean Secondary Education Council (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) exams in May/June 2025. This was announced in a post on the Ministry of Education’s Facebook page.
Both public and private school students will benefit from this initiative. Candidates who paid full fees (those who did not receive a subsidy) will be reimbursed for up to eight subjects.
Meanwhile, those who received subsidies will be reimbursed for their parents’ contribution, up to a maximum of eight subjects. President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced this initiative earlier this month, describing it as a $700 million investment in education.
Parents are advised to bring valid identification such as a National ID card, Passport, Driver’s License, or identification by a senior community official such as the school principal or Toshao. If the parent is unable to attend, an authorisation letter accompanied by a copy of the parent’s ID card is required.
