A confrontation between a taxi driver and a motorcyclist escalated into a deadly stabbing on Friday afternoon between Robb and Albert Streets, resulting in the death of 26-year-old mechanic Jamal Green.

According to police reports, the incident began around 13:30 hours when the victim, riding behind the suspect’s vehicle, confronted the taxi driver Keon Belgrave, 30, of Sophia Squatting Area, accusing him of nearly hitting him with his car. The tension quickly escalated, culminating in a violent altercation.

Eyewitnesses stated that the victim, armed with a piece of iron, struck the suspect, who then retrieved a knife from his car. A scuffle ensued during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim three times in the back.

Emergency responders rushed the victim to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody as investigations continue. CCTV footage from the area captured the confrontation, aiding the ongoing probe.

The victim’s body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
