
In anticipation of Guyana’s 59th Independence Anniversary, key regional leaders and stakeholders gathered for a strategic planning session aimed at ensuring a successful and inclusive celebration in Region Two.
The high-level meeting was led by the Director of National Events at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Andrew Tyndall, alongside Lieutenant Colonel Murray of the Guyana Defence Force and his team.

The session focused on coordination efforts for upcoming national activities and was marked by a strong show of unity and patriotic commitment.
Among those in attendance were Regional Chairwoman Vilma De Silva, Regional Vice Chairman Humace Oodit, Prime Minister’s Representative Arnold Adams, Regional Executive Officer Susanah Sawack, and Mayor of Anna Regina, His Worship Devin Mohan.
Representatives from the Joint Services, Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs), and various programme heads also participated in the discussions.







The planned events include the National Patriotic Concert on May 24 and the National Flag Raising Ceremony on the evening of May 25. Organisers emphasised the importance of flawless execution, community involvement, and showcasing Guyanese culture and youth talent throughout the celebrations.
“The upcoming events will not only reflect our patriotic spirit but also showcase the strength of regional cooperation,” Tyndall stated. “We are working together to make this anniversary meaningful for every citizen.”
