A 52-year-old labourer of Success, East Coast Demerara, was on Tuesday sentenced to six months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to stealing car and truck tyres.
The accused, Anthony June, known as ‘Rubber,’ was arrested on September 19, 2025, and later charged on September 29 with Simple Larceny, contrary to Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 08:01.
June was accused of stealing eight car tyres and four small truck tyres, together valued at $253,000, from businessman Fizul Basirali between September 11 and 18, 2025, at Success.
When he appeared before His Worship Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court #1 on September 30, June admitted to the charge. He was subsequently handed a six-month prison sentence.
