Two gold miners, Rovel Santiago, 21, of Mabaruma, Region One, and Shawn Williams, 20, of Kuru Kururu Village, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, were remanded to prison on Tuesday, after being jointly charged with murder.
The charge was read to them at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed under the Common Law of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Both men were not required to enter a plea and were remanded until August 14, 2025, when their case will continue.
Santiago and Williams are accused of murdering Riley Abrams on June 28, 2025, at Baramani Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region Seven.
A post-mortem examination conducted by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh on June 30, 2025, revealed that Abrams died from multiple incised wounds.
