Two men were remanded to prison on Wednesday after being charged with the murder of 18-year-old Jerroy Gordon of Litchfield Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB). Antwone Campbell, also known as “Antone,” 19, and Rayon Frank, known as “Fearless,” both of Number 40 Village, appeared at the Fort Wellington Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Michelle Matthias.

The court heard that on Thursday, July 03, at Number 40 Village, West Coast Berbice, Campbell and Frank murdered Jerroy Gordon. They were not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder. During proceedings, Police Prosecutor Sergeant Garfield Edwards informed the court that the case file is complete, but the deceased’s postmortem examination report is still outstanding. Magistrate Matthias subsequently reminded the accused of the seriousness of the charge and remanded them to prison. The matter was transferred to the Weldaad Magistrates’ Court for disclosure on August 08.

According to reports, on the day in question, at about 21:30 hours, Jerroy and his 16-year-old brother, Jerry, were ambushed on their motorcycle near their home after buying food. An attacker armed with a rope forced them off the bike, and as they fell, several armed men approached. Jerry fled to Litchfield to notify relatives and later returned to find Jerroy critically injured. Jerroy was taken to Fort Wellington Hospital but died from a severe neck wound and other injuries. Following the incident, the police launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of Campbell and Frank. Advice was given to charge them with murder. According to information gathered, Jerroy had previous disputes with the two accused earlier that year, which had been resolved in court.
