An 87-year-old woman of West Bank Berbice is now living in fear after her home was broken into and ransacked while she was away. The elderly resident, Bibi Rahim of Lot 44, Number 1 Settlement, Blairmont, told reporters that she had spent Friday night at a relative’s home nearby. However, upon returning on Saturday morning, she discovered her house in disarray.“The table tumbled, all the cups and plates were knocked over, and everything in the cupboard was disorganized. The mattress and pillows were also everywhere,” she recounted.Rahim said she is uncertain whether anything was stolen, noting that she does not keep money or jewellery at her residence. The pensioner, who has been living alone since the death of her son two years ago, further revealed that a lower flat window of the house had been broken, suggesting forced entry.“If I had gone home, what would have happened? It’s a good thing I wasn’t there. God is the greatest,” she added. The matter has since been reported to the Blairmont Police Station, and investigations are ongoing.
