Eva Pearson, the 30-year-old woman accused of killing her former reputed husband, 46-year-old Darren Harris, has been acquitted of all charges following a trial at the Demerara High Court.
Earlier this week, a 12-member jury unanimously found Pearson not guilty of murder and returned a 10-2 not guilty verdict on the lesser count of manslaughter. The trial was presided over by Justice Jo Ann Barlow.
Pearson had initially pleaded not guilty to the capital offence, which stemmed from a domestic altercation that occurred on April 1, 2021, at E’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

During the incident, Harris, who worked as a cook, was reportedly stabbed three times—once to the chest and twice in the back—after a heated dispute.
Pearson was first charged at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts, remanded to prison, and subsequently committed to stand trial in the High Court.
With the verdict, Pearson walks free after spending several years in prison awaiting the conclusion of the case.
