A 25-year-old woman labourer from Henrietta, Essequibo Coast, has been charged with driving while over the legal breath alcohol limit, driving without a licence, and breach of insurance following an incident at Richmond Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
The accused, Maria Tovar, was charged in connection with the offences, which allegedly occurred on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
The matter was heard on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir.
Tovar pleaded not guilty to all three charges. She was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 for the charge of driving while her breath alcohol level exceeded the prescribed limit, $50,000 for the unlicensed driving charge, and a further $50,000 for the breach of insurance charge.
The case is expected to continue at a later date.
