

Thirty-year-old Eva Pearson is currently on trial at the Demerara High Court for the alleged murder of her former reputed husband, 46-year-old Darren Harris.
The case is being heard before Justice Jo Ann Barlow and a 12-member jury. During her arraignment, Pearson pleaded not guilty to the capital offence.The charge stems from an incident at E’ Field in Sophia, Greater Georgetown, on April 1, 2021.
It is alleged that Pearson fatally stabbed Harris during a heated argument around 21:30 hours. According to police reports, Harris, who worked as a cook, was stabbed three times – once to the left side of his chest and twice to his upper left back.
The fatal altercation reportedly followed a domestic dispute between the two. Pearson was initially charged with the offence at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts, where she appeared before Magistrate Alisha George.
She was remanded to prison and later committed to trial at the High Court.
