100 Low-Income Homes at Le Reconnaissance Set for January 2027 Completion

One hundred low-income homes being built at Le Reconnaissance on the East Coast of Demerara are expected to be completed and handed over by the end of January 2027.
The two-bedroom homes, valued at $5.6 million each, are approximately 15 per cent complete and have already been allocated.
Eight contractors are carrying out the works, providing employment for more than 120 people.
Housing Minister Collin Croal, during an inspection on Friday, said demand for completed homes remains high, with more applicants opting for finished houses instead of residential lots.
Croal also disclosed that another initiative will soon be announced to assist landowners who need help accessing contractors to build their homes.
In total, approximately 175 low-income homes are being developed at Le Reconnaissance, including 75 from an earlier phase.
