Raul Binand, 24, has been remanded to prison after he was allegedly busted with over 21 kilograms of cocaine in his car on Wednesday.

Binand, who appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Friday, was charged with possession of 21.972 kilograms of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate denied bail, and Binand was remanded to prison until his next court appearance scheduled for July 11, 2025.

The charge stems from an operation conducted by officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Wednesday, in which they intercepted a motorcar on David Street, Georgetown.

Acting on intelligence, the officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered several parcels containing a whitish, powdery substance. The substance was taken to CANU’s headquarters, where it tested positive for cocaine, weighing a total of 21.972 kilograms.
