A 23-year-old mason from Agricola, Greater Georgetown, has been remanded to prison following a brutal armed robbery that left a man seriously injured.

Brandon Williams appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Friday, charged with robbery under arms. He was not required to enter a plea, as the charge is indictable.

The incident occurred in Agricola on May 30, 2025, when Williams, reportedly armed with a cutlass and accompanied by another man, attacked and robbed Kewsi Lewis.

The stolen items included a smartphone valued at $150,000 and $40,000 in cash. During the assault, Lewis sustained multiple chop wounds, including a serious hand injury while trying to block a blow to his head.

He later managed to flee and flag down police officers, who took him to the hospital, where he was admitted for three days.

According to court testimony, tensions between the two men began after Lewis’s girlfriend reported a woman, allegedly connected to Williams, to the police.

The girlfriend lives in Agricola, and on the day in question, Lewis was visiting her. Lewis said he was threatened and warned not to return to the village.

The prosecution opposed bail, highlighting Williams’s previous criminal history and the severity of the offence. The court was told that Lewis continues to receive threats and fears for his life.

Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty denied bail due to concerns for public safety and the violent nature of the crime. Williams was remanded to prison until the next court hearing on August 8, 2025.
