7Air and Air Cargo Pack Launch Direct Miami–Georgetown Cargo Route to Boost Guyanese Trade

A new air cargo link between Miami and Georgetown was announced in early October by U.S.-based 7Air Cargo, in partnership with Guyana’s Air Cargo Pack (Guyana) Inc., a move aimed at accelerating trade flows to and from the rapidly growing Guyanese economy.

The route will operate using Boeing 737-800 freighter aircraft, establishing a direct cargo corridor that bypasses many transit delays common in multi-stop logistics chains. Guyanese officials say this will reduce transit times, support just-in-time supply chains, and expand opportunities for importers and exporters across sectors, including perishables, pharmaceuticals, industrial goods, and e-commerce deliveries.

Under the arrangement, Air Cargo Pack will handle local operations in Georgetown, including sales, bookings, and client support, while 7Air manages the flight operations and route infrastructure. With Guyana’s economy on a growth trajectory, the move is timely: , primarily driven by its burgeoning oil and gas sector, which now demands robust logistics networks to support inflows of machinery, spares, and international trade inputs.

Industry observers highlight several upsides. First, a direct route reduces reliance on third-party transhipment hubs, cutting costs and risks of delay. Second, it gives Guyanese businesses better access to U.S. markets and supply chains. Third, it strengthens the resilience of Guyana’s logistics infrastructure at a time when disruptions (global or regional) are common.

Customs, regulatory, and security processes at both ends will be tested under higher throughput, urging local businesses to adapt to higher standards of coordination.
