The criminal case against 32-year-old Keron Daniels took a new turn on Monday when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabyo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. Daniels, who was previously charged alone, is now jointly charged with another man, Ivor Billingy, for the September 3, 2025 acid attack that left two women badly injured.

The charge alleges that Daniels and Billingy threw a corrosive substance at 27-year-old Genesis Leitch and 20-year-old Nirmala Subraj on East Street, Georgetown. Leitch was left partially blind and permanently disfigured, while Subraj suffered burns to parts of her body.

Daniels was earlier accused of masterminding the attack following a personal dispute. Police had said CCTV footage showed his vehicle near the scene, though the footage was never presented in court. He was granted $500,000 bail last month and has since attended all court hearings.

At Monday’s appearance, the previous single charge against Daniels was withdrawn and replaced with the joint charge. The prosecutor again objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the crime, but Daniels’ attorney argued that his client had complied with all conditions and should remain on bail.

Magistrate Azore agreed that the earlier charge could not stand alongside the new one and ordered it withdrawn. She also allowed Daniels’ existing bail to be transferred to the joint charge.

Billingy, who is also facing a separate robbery charge, was not present in court. A summons will be issued for him to appear on October 27, when the case continues.
