Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips this morning joined hundreds of participants in Georgetown for the Men on Mission (MoM) International Men’s Day Walk, held in observance of the initiative’s third anniversary.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister reflected on the purpose and evolution of the MoM movement, describing it as a national commitment to service, unity, and responsibility. He noted that over the past three years, the President Irfaan Ali-led initiative has grown into a transformational force supporting families and communities countrywide.

“This walk is not only a celebration. It is a reminder of the responsibility we carry to be protectors, builders, positive influences, and examples for the next generation of young men in Guyana,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Prime Minister Phillips highlighted MoM’s wide-ranging impact, including the construction and rehabilitation of homes for pensioners, single parents, persons living with disabilities, and families affected by fire. He also pointed to the expansion of mentorship, literacy support, and life-skills programs that target at-risk boys and young men across all ten administrative regions.

“When we launched Men on Mission, the idea was simple but powerful to help men become their best selves so they can better support their families, communities, and country,” he stated.

He underscored the importance of positive male role models, shared responsibility, and sustained national collaboration, adding that the annual walk serves as more than a symbolic gesture.
