Pres. Ali says Guyana moving to fully integrated national security system

President Dr. Irfaan Ali today said that Guyana is building what he described as one of the world’s most modern and technologically integrated national security systems, with a focus on interoperability, regional cooperation and people-centred policing.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the Head of State said the government’s long-term objective is to create a unified national security infrastructure that links all security agencies and systems under a common interface.

“The objective of our national security infrastructure of Guyana is to develop one of the most modern technologically integrated systems in the world,” Ali said.

According to the President, the system is being designed to improve coordination among security agencies while ensuring faster and more effective responses to threats.

“In this system, we are seeking to create a common national security interface with all security agencies and apparatus integrated to enhance interoperability, enhance efficiency, and deliver results,” he stated.

Ali said the security framework must also comply with international standards while supporting not only Guyana’s security interests, but those of the wider region and allied nations.

“Such system must be in compliance with global standards and integrated in supporting the security not only of Guyana, but our region, and with our allies,” the President said.

He added that the initiative is being built around strategic partnerships, technology, intelligence-sharing and governance systems, while also incorporating communities and civil society into the broader security architecture.

“The system is built on partnership with key allies and institutions, technology, intelligence, governance, resilience, community, civil society are all critically and will be critically integrated into the system,” Ali noted.

The President said the overall aim is to establish “a people-centric model for national security.”
