Guyana has signed two new aviation agreements aimed at expanding international air links and supporting greener air travel.
Public Utilities and Aviation Minister Deodat Indar on Wednesday signed an Air Services Agreement with Greece, setting the framework for air transport between the two countries.
While there are currently no direct flights between Guyana and Greece, the agreement will allow airlines to access both markets and could open new opportunities for travel, trade and economic activity.
The agreement covers areas including traffic rights, airline operations, aviation safety and security.
Guyana also signed a separate agreement with the Dominican Republic focusing on sustainability and the decarbonisation of civil aviation.
That partnership will support efforts under the international aviation sector to reduce carbon emissions and work towards net-zero emissions by 2050.
