A Black Bush Polder farmer died on Friday night following a collision involving the motorcycle he was travelling on and a car along the Manchester Public Road, Corentyne.
The dead man has been identified as 28-year-old Chatram Brigbasie of Lot 59 Lesbeholden North, Black Bush Polder.
According to his wife, Ratna Satran, Brigbasie left their home at about 18:00 hours without saying where he was going.
Two hours later, she received a call informing her that he had been involved in an accident.
Satran said she immediately travelled to the location, where she learnt that Brigbasie had already been pronounced dead. His body was later taken to the mortuary.
Based on information provided to the family, Brigbasie was riding the motorcycle with another person when they reportedly collided with the rear of a car.
The two motorcycle occupants were thrown off and sustained injuries. The extent of the pillion rider’s injuries remains unclear.
Brigbasie was also employed part-time at the Lesbeholden NARIE office and was remembered by relatives as a good person.
He leaves behind his wife, a seven-year-old daughter and an unborn child, as well as other relatives and friends.
Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
