Guyana recorded 47,726 visitor arrivals in October, up 12.8 per cent from the same month last year, according to the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA).
The record October tally brought arrivals for the first ten months of 2026 to 408,349. The GTA says Guyana remains on track to reach its target of 500,000 arrivals by year-end.
Nearly six in every ten visitors came for leisure. Business travellers accounted for 17 per cent of arrivals, while 24 per cent came for other reasons.
The United States remained Guyana’s largest source market, accounting for 37.7 per cent of visitors. The Caribbean followed at 33.9 per cent. Together, the two markets accounted for more than seven in every ten arrivals.
The increase came in a busy month for conferences in Guyana. The country hosted the Caribbean Shipping Association’s annual meeting and the Global Biodiversity Alliance Conference and Financing Forum. The GTA said events held during the month drew regional and international visitors and supported business for hotels, transport operators and food establishments.
