Two men accused of drug trafficking were granted bail when they appeared at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Frederick Garraway, of Lot 6 Tabatinga, Lethem, and Laurence France, of Lot 594 Culvert City, Central Rupununi, were jointly charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

The charge alleges that on May 30, 2025, at Tabatinga, Lethem, the men were found with 17.92 grammes of cocaine. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Attorney-at-law Bernard Da Silva represented Garraway. The matter was heard before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan.

Bail was granted in the sum of $300,000 to each accused, with conditions attached. They were ordered to lodge their passports with the court and report to the Lethem Police Station every Friday until the conclusion of the matter. The case was adjourned to June 25, 2025, for report and disclosure.
